7.03 - Ok, just to clear things up a bit - I am a wannabe techno geek. This appears to be the most recent move in the chess (or maybe checkers is more accurate) game between larger labels and the internet music community. It occurred to me that perhaps (warning: I am an optimistic idealist) with consumers now having more opportunities to form their own opinion easily without having to invest much time, money or energy, what really is raising concerns here is that folks just won't be swayed as much by marketing hype as they used to. How easy is it to just listen to a band that you've heard good things about? Is it good? If so, here's my money. Otherwise, SUGGIT. Maybe it will make folks just a bit harder to trick? Of course, that assumes that folks want to form their own opinion on music.

6.11 - ZZzzz... huh?! Ok, it looks like May was a bit slow but it actually wasn't. We finished mastering the debut Charlene full-length with Lipton. We cleaned the basement and started the Lockgroove recordings. We had two sweet BBQs. Dave got new pants. Will's dog ate Randy.

5.16 - Ladies of the night take note: Lockgroove are back from tour and feeling "itchy." Details of the outing are still being sorted but we have a handful of items that may be on interest: First things first, Gary Indiana? Not cool. Not funny. Not educational. No. Def. not worth the $.15 toll. Million-dollar smiles and top-notch charisma can get even the ugliest mess across the border and back. People in Toronto are mean. People in Montreal are nice. Dave is "not too big on" changing, bathing, not pissing on himself or avoiding used condoms. Worst show was Philly, best was Montreal. Alice from Galaxy Hut rules for providing crash space. Somewhere outside of Columbus OH Adam got scabies (Dr. recommends a complete body waxing). On the sixth day Dave spoke and did proclaim: "I gotta get myself a toothbrush..."

Also scheduled that same night are the Kimchee Records and Big Wheel Rec. showcases - if you sprint between the venues, you can get your year's worth of exercise AND see what will surely prove to be the most exciting performances of the week. |

1.24 - A while back, Charlene's "Basement Songs" was featured on the Viva Mobstar! compilation CD released on the UK label MobStar Records. I just found this nice mention in the anewnoise webzine. No biggie but very nice nonetheless. |

1.23 - Marty, Dave, Ian, and I were on WMBR's Pipeline! last night chatting with Bob about "3.5eps" and the release show. It was fun! I guess it's a good thing no one heard this though... otherwise, we may have sounded like complete dimwits. |

1.17 - Um... what the hell is new? Well... everyone is busy getting ready for the "3.5eps" show on the 26th. Charlene has just postponed their mastering date AGAIN. Yes, that makes four times. Lipton won't take our calls anymore. Compass has apparently taken to "busking" at various downtown T stops. Throw coins at him if you get the chance. Yeah, I guess that's about it. |

1.10 - Jay from the WeeklyDig interviewed us (Ian and I) about srkatk last night. It went well! I did manage to squeeze in a comment about the Cuban missle crisis being in 1965 though - I think it really helped drive home the whole "these guys are morons!" message. Sweet? Sweeeeeeeet.
